Breed Standard for the Puli
General Appearance:
A compact dog of square proportion and medium bone.
Head:
Almond-shaped eyes; skull slightly domed; ears v-shaped, hanging, medium size; back level
Tail:
Carried over back, blending into backline
Gait:
Its gait at a trot is quick stepping, but neither far reaching nor mincing.
Coat:
Its weatherproof coat consists of a soft, wooly, dense undercoat and a wavy or curly outer coat. This coat will form round or flattened cords, but it may also be brushed out.
Color:
Solid black, rusty black, gray, and white
Size:
Weight: 25 – 35 pounds
Height: male: ideally 17”; female: ideally 16”
Temperament:
A mop on springs, the Puli is full of bounding energy. It is busy and curious and needs daily exercise. This smart dog is also headstrong and tough.
