Breed Standards for the Bernese Mountain Dog
General Appearance and Coat:
Its thick coat is moderately long, and slightly wavy or straight, providing insulation from the cold
Head and Neck:
Well defined stop, skull flat, ears medium sized, triangular with rounded tips, hanging close to the head
Front Quarters:
Feet round
Hind Quarters:
Tail bushy, carried low
Gait and Movement:
Its natural working gait is a slow trot, but with good reach and drive
Characteristics:
Tri-colored; black with tan markings and white flashings
Temperament:
It’s sensitive, loyal, and extremely devoted. It is gentle with children and often reserved with strangers. It generally gets along with other pets.
