Breed Standards for the Pharaoh Hound

General Appearance:

It has an unexaggerated greyhound-like build, combining grace, power, and speed, enabling it to run nimbly along rocky walls and ground.

Head:

Flesh-covered nose; amber-colored eyes; slight stop; long chiseled head; large ears, carried erect when alert

Tail:

Whip-like tail

Color:

Tan or chestnut, with a white tail-tip desired

Size:

Height: Male 23 – 25”; Female 21 – 24”

Weight: 45 – 55 lb.

Temperament:

It is a keen hunter and an exuberant chase. Although it is calm indoors, it loves to run. It is sensitive, loving, gentle, and good with children and other dogs, but it may chase strange animals.
