Breed Standards for the Pekingese
General Appearance:
The Pekingese is a compact dog with a pear-shaped body, heavy forequarters and lighter hindquarters. It is slightly longer than it is tall, with a stocky, heavy build.
Head:
Slightly undershot; nose positioned at a height between the eyes; large round eyes; flat profile; wrinkle extends over the bridge of the nose in an inverted V; massive, broad, flat skull; heart shaped ears

Tail carried over back
Color:
All colors and patterns are allowable
Size:
Weight is not to exceed 14 pounds. Height is 6 – 9 inches.
Temperament:
It is a courageous character that will not start a fight but will not back down from one. It tends to be aloof around strangers.
