A square-proportioned, sturdy dog

Almond-shaped eyes; Distinctive spectacles add to alert expression; Wedge-shaped skull when viewed from above; Small, high-set, triangular ears carried erect
Tail:
Tightly curled over back, lying flat and close to body
Color:
Mixture of gray, black, and cream
Size:
Weight: male: about 45 lb; female: about 35 lb
Height: male: 18”; female: 17”
Gait:
Distinctive, clean, bold and brisk, with only slight to moderate reach and drive
Coat:
A long straight harsh outer coat standing off from its body, a good mane, and a thick downy undercoat
Temperament:
Fairly energetic and playful, very attentive and loving and ready for adventure yet content to take it easy
