Breed Standards for the Japanese Chin
General Appearance:
Small, lively and aristocratic, the Japanese Chin is a square- proportioned small dog.
Head:
Slightly undershot, large, broad head with short, broad muzzle, large, round, wide-set eyes, deep stop.
Tail:
Carried arched over the back and flowing to either side of the body.
Color:
Black and white, red and white, or black and tan and white.
Coat:
Long, soft, profuse coat is silky and absolutely free from curl or wave.
Size:
Height is usually from 9 – 10 inches and an ideal weight is 4 – 7 pounds.
Temperament:
It is sensitive and willing to please, tending to shadow its owner.
