Breed Standards for the Greyhound
General Appearance:
The ultimate running dog, the Greyhound is built for speed. Its long legs and arched back enable it to contract and stretch maximally while executing the double-suspension gallop.
Head:
Long, narrow, scarcely perceptible stop, small, folded ears.
Tail:
The long tail serves as a rudder and brake when running at high speed.
Coat:
Short and smooth.
Color:
Immaterial (includes black, gray, red, fawn, either solid or brindled, either whole colored or spotted.
Size:
27 – 30 inches and 60 – 70 pounds.
Temperament:
Quite, calm and extremely well-mannered.
