Breed Standards for the English Pointer
General Appearance:
The Pointer combines athletic grace and power with a lean, muscular body, noble hear, alert expression, and noble carriage.
Head:
Square, deep muzzle; nose slightly higher at tip than at stop; Long head with pronounced stop; Rounded eyes; Thin, soft, hanging ears, somewhat pointed at tip
Tail:
Tail tapering, straight, carried near the line of the back
Color:
Liver, lemon, black, orange, either solid or mixed with white
Size:
Weight: male: 55-75 lb; female: 45-65 lb
Height: male: 25-58”; female: 23-26
Gait:
Smooth and powerful. Tail lashes from side to side when the dog gaits.
Temperament:
Gentle and sweet but may be too energetic and boisterous at times for very small children
