A compact, short-coupled dog, of square proportion and rugged appearance

Head:

Thick beard, mustache, and eyebrows; Oval eyes; Flat skull; High-set, rough-coated ears; if cropped, triangular

Tail:

Tail docked to two or three vertebrae, carried upright when in motion

Color:

From fawn to black, including salt and pepper, gray and brindle

Gait:

Free, bold and proud

Coat:

Tousled and double, with a fine undercoat and a harsh, dry outer coat

Size:

Weight: 69-90 lb; Height: male: 24.5 – 27.5”; female: 23.5-26.”
