Thick beard, mustache, and eyebrows; Oval eyes; Flat skull; High-set, rough-coated ears; if cropped, triangular

Tail docked to two or three vertebrae, carried upright when in motion
Color:
From fawn to black, including salt and pepper, gray and brindle
Gait:
Free, bold and proud
Coat:
Tousled and double, with a fine undercoat and a harsh, dry outer coat
