Breed Standards for the Scottish Terrier
General Appearance: The Scottish Terrier is a short-legged, compact, relatively heavy boned dog, giving the impression of great power in a small package
Head: Long skull, of medium width; Small, almond-shaped eyes; Small, prick ears, pointed
Tail: Uncut tail, about 7” long, carried with a slight curve but not over the back
Color: Black, wheaten, or brindle of any color
Size: Weight: male: 19-22 lb; female: 18-21 lb
Height: about 10”
Coat: A combination of dense undercoat and extremely hardy and wiry outer coat, about 2 inches in length.
Temperament: A tough, determined character, ready for action. It is fearless and feisty and may be aggressive toward other dogs and animals.
