Breed Standards for the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

 

 

General Appearance:

Square-proportioned, graceful, and strong, not exaggerated in any way

 

 

Head:

Medium-sized, slightly almond-shaped eyes; Head appears rectangular, powerful; Ears fairly small, breaking level with skull

 

 

Tail:

Docked, carried gaily but not over back

 

 

Color:

Any shade of wheaten

 

 

Size:

Weight:  male:  35-40 lb; female:  30-35 lb

Height:   male:  18-29”; female:  17-18”

 

 

Coat:

Its abundant, soft, single coat distinguishes it from all other terriers.  It is long and silky with a gently wave

 

 

Gait:

Its gait is free and lively with good reach and drive

 

 

Temperament:

It is affectionate, congenial, and much gentler than most terriers
