The extraordinary long-fringed, butterfly-like ears are the reason behind the breed’s name, papillon being French for butterfly.

Long tail carried arched over body and covered with a long plume

Its abundant coat is long, silky, straight, and flowing.

White; patches of any color but tan

Showing no aggression, always alert, lively, intelligent, and friendly, this breed makes a fascinating and charming companion, and the abundant coat is reasonably easy to keep in good order.
