Breed Standards for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

 

 

General Appearance:

An elegant, royal, toy spaniel, slightly longer than tall, with moderate bones.

 

 

Head:

Full muzzle; Large, round eyes, with cushioning beneath; Ears high set and long

 

 

Tail:

Carried happily and in motion when the dog is moving; may be docked with no more than one third removed

 

 

Size:

Weight:  13-18 lb;   Height:  12-13”

 

 

Color:

Ruby (solid red), Blenheim (red and white), black and tan, tricolor

 

 

Coat:

Its silky coat is of moderate length, with a slight wave permissible

 

 

Gait:

Free and elegant, with good reach and drive

 

 

Temperament:

Sweet, gentle, playful, willing to please, affectionate and quiet
