Breed Standard for the Australian Cattle Dog

 

 

General Appearance:

The Australian Cattle Dog is of moderate build, enabling it to combine great endurance with bursts of speed and extreme agility necessary in controlling unruly cattle.

 

 

Head:

Medium-sized, oval eyes; Broad skull; rather small pricked ears

 

 

Tail:

Set low, hanging in slight curve

 

 

Color:

Blue or blue-mottled with or without other markings; red speckled.

 

 

Size:

Weight:  35 – 45 lb

Height:   Male: 18 – 20”; Female 17 – 19”

 

 

Temperament:

Smart, hardy, independent, stubborn, tenacious, energetic, and untiring.
